I remember that old Benny Hill sketch of the filming of a soap opera where the guy was dressed in leather clothing and sitting on a vinyl-covered couch. Obviously, everytime he moved he drowned ALL conversations on set.

Eventually AI will be able to pick out these sounds as if they were on their own recording track, and turn them down or even eliminate them. This will be a lost art.

I never thought about importance of muting the sounds in props. I always assumed they exist purely because you want fake item, instead of buying a real one. But now it makes sense. I think I thought about the sounds that are not there once. But I just assumed they were removed in post production or something.

Can we get the noiseless paper bag, I don't know about you but the noise a paper bag makes pisses me off

I think there oughta be a website that's a reference resource so we can look up a show or a film and see at least some of the prominent fake goods used in a specific production. Been binge watching Monk and there's a fake beer that's commonly used but I can never manage to read the name on the label. I challenge anyone to find a reference to that beer on the internet.

Ive been watching this drama and they like to plop their to go coffe cups down and it's so clear to me the cups are EMPTY because they sound different. The wrong sound is actually also distracting

This is so very cool!! The talent it takes to think of this stuff. I will say though, I think somehow the crinkling of the bag in that scene with melissa mccarthy would have make it so much funnier because it just added to the ridiculousness of that scene 😂😂

It's quite interesting that all these sounds that they are trying to eliminate, are mostly wanted sounds for ASMR :)
